All Athletes Make High Performance Program List in Addition to Winning 4 medals at Elite Canada in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
11 Alberta athletes competed at Elite Canada in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics from Friday, February 1 to Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Gatineau, QC. Together they not only brought home four medals – one gold and three silver – but all 11 athletes qualified for Gymnastics Canada’s 2019 Women’s High Performance Program List.
The event saw over 100 of Canada’s top athletes compete in novice, junior and senior categories with gymnasts in each category seeking qualification for High Performance status for the right to compete at Canadian Championships and to be eligible for national teams and potential international competitions.
Alberta’s athletes medaled in the novice category and here is a summary of how they did:
Lucy Kern of Calgary Gymnastics Centre:

Avery McCoy of Norfort Gymnastics Association:
- Silver on Bars
Olivia Pfister of Canmore Illusions Gymnastics Club:
- Silver on Vault
Jenna Timmons of Calgary Gymnastics Centre:
- Silver on Floor
- 6th on Vault
- 4th All Around
Joining Lucy, Avery, Olivia and Jenna on the novice High Performance Program list are Ava-Lee McLean of Norfort Gymnastics Association and Orlia Ngomsi (Independent). In the junior category, Alberta athltes who achieved high performance status were Kyra Cato, Marisa deGroot, Savannah Holman and Piper Johnson of Calgary Gymnastics Centre as well as Malyana Ramos of KIN Gymnastics, while Ilka Juk of Calgary Gymnastics Centre qualified in the senior category.
