March 16, 2020
The Government of Alberta announced yesterday afternoon that, effective immediately, it is taking new measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 after cases indicating community spread were identified. These measures include the indefinite closure of all licensed childcare facilities, out-of-school programs and preschool programs. Students are prohibited from attending K-12 schools in Alberta and in-person post-secondary classes have been cancelled. Learn more at alberta.ca/COVID19.
While businesses (e.g. gymnastics clubs) have not been mandated to close, some have voluntarily chosen to do so. The Alberta Gymnastics Federation (AGF) advises that member clubs continue to monitor government advisories and ensure compliance with these if choosing to remain open. A number of resources have been added to the AGF COVID-19 Updates webpage to assist.
