Job Title: Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach Location: Grande Prairie Gymnastics, Grande Prairie Alberta, Canada Position Type: Part time About Us: Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society (GPGS) is a non-profit organization committed to delivering high-quality gymnastics, cheerleading, parkour, and preschool programs. The WAG coach is a key member of the Women’s Artistic Program, collaborating closely with members, athletes, and coaches of the Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society (GPGS). This role is responsible for coaching, guiding and mentoring a group of competitive athletes to further achievement & success. Key duties include planning for and implementing developmentally appropriate artistic gymnastics programs for athletes in their care. The ideal candidate is an organized, dependable, and team-oriented individual who has technical expertise, emotional intelligence and a supportive coaching style. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement effective training plans to support athlete development. • Regularly assess individual and team performance to track progress and ensure improvement. • Prepare athletes for competitions, providing guidance and support during events. • Assist in planning and coordinating competition schedules, ensuring readiness. • Maintain clear communication with the supervisor on athlete progress and training outcomes. • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages commitment and trust. • Inspire and encourage athletes to help them reach their full potential. • Participate in coaching clinics and ongoing professional development. • Promote gymnastics through active participation in community events. • Mentor junior coaches, offering guidance and support. • Ensure proper storage of equipment and adherence to safety protocols. • Address member concerns with professionalism and empathy. • Maintain positive relationships with the Alberta Gymnastics Federation. • Activate emergency protocols as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • C1 NCCP Artistic Gymnastics certification • C1 NCCP Trampoline Gymnastics certification • High School Diploma required • 2+ years of coaching experience • Excellent communication skills • Ability to lead, motivate, and coach others with empathy, patience and support • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and mature judgment • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Energetic team player with an outgoing, friendly, responsible, punctual, and adaptable attitude • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting and applying relevant regulations, policies, and procedures • Proven ability to manage change and resolve conflicts using effective conflict resolution techniques • Strong commitment to safety, ensuring safe work practices are implemented and maintained • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Assets: • C2 NCCP Artistic Gymnastics certification • Experience coaching in a Women’s Artistic Gymnastics program • Thorough knowledge of Grande Prairie Gymnastics Programs • Experience working with children • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders certification • First Aid with CPR • Post Secondary Diploma or Degree.
