WAG Program Update

The fall season has been busy with training camps, coaching courses, and judging courses.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve hosted over 700 athletes and 100 coaches at our various training camps. Spots started filling up as soon as registration opened so this is a good reminder to sign up as early as possible next time!

Our own Alberta expert coaches presented at Compulsory and Xcel camps in both the North (YEG Gymnastics and Pine Valley) and South (Airdrie Edge and Mountain Shadows).  The presenters worked with athletes and coaches in the gym on basics and gymnastics skills for each of their levels.  We also had round table discussions at both camps which included coaches from across the province.

Last month’s Fall Congress in Calgary was a huge success with over 100 coaches attending various coaching and administration session.  A big thank you to our guest presenters Nicole Langevin and Shira Lewis from Precision Choreography!

Last week, our new WAG technical director, Darren Webster organized and lead a level 6-10 training camp at North Edmonton Gymnastics Club.  We were so pleased to have over 200 participants in attendance.  AGF was proud to invite Mary Wright, Kyna Fletcher, David Altmeyer, Vanessa Toulouse, and Julia Spivak as guest presenters who worked with all the athletes and coaches.

AGF continues to host Xcel, Compulsory, and Optional judging courses across the province to certify our judges for all levels of competition.

The final event before the new year will be Trials to Alberta Winter Games hosted by Precision Gymnastics on December 16th and 17th.  We will see you all there and good luck to all our athletes who will be competing!
