The Alberta Gymnastics Federation’s insurance policy provides coverage for AGF members engaging in AGF Sanctioned Activities, and is comprised of three key components:
‘Insured Persons’ under AGF’s Insurance Policy includes:
1. All registered AGF members:
2. Non-registered AGF members when working within the scope of their duties on behalf of AGF or an AGF Member Club (e.g. Spectators and Parents).
AGF’s insurance policy will defend liability lawsuits in which an AGF member club is named. All member clubs are protected against the consequences of their negligence, alleged or otherwise, resulting in bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party. This includes litigation costs and the potential of damages awarded.
AGF’s current insurance program provides $5,000,000 worth of protection for litigation and settlement and costs with the following sub-limits:
$5,000 – each and every occurrence inclusive of supplementary payments, but $50,000 – each and every occurrence inclusive of supplementary payments in respect of Bodily Injury claims and Sexual Abuse/Molestation claims
AGF Members (excluding drop-in, birthday party and promotional activity participants) are eligible to receive reimbursement for medical expenses associated with injuries that occurred during an AGF sanctioned activity. This coverage is applied after the participant’s primary benefit package (e.g. Alberta Health Care coverage) is consumed. Costs such as immediate “out of pocket” expenses related to an injury may also be provided through this coverage (E.g. Ambulance Fees, air casts, crutches, etc.) NOTE: Regardless of whether the individual member club is at fault, an injured participant will be indemnified by this insurance coverage for a variety of injuries if the claim is made within 365 days of the date of injury.
