CCMHS – Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport

The CCMHS is a registered charity supporting the mental health and performance of competitive and high-performance athletes, coaches, performing artists, and support staff. The CCMHS is the first Centre in Canada to offer collaborative sport and performance-focused mental health care services designed to help individuals achieve their performance goals while preserving their well-being. The CCMHS rests on 3 pillars of success: Collaborative Care, Research, and Education & Outreach.

Alberta Health Services

Alberta Child Abuse Services:


A multidisciplinary, specialized service that provides therapeutic and medical services to children who have experienced physical / sexual abuse and/or neglect.
In order to enhance bio-psycho-social health and well-being, the service has two streams:

Therapy Stream (Child Abuse Service):

  • assesses the impact of abuse and neglect on the referred child
  • provides therapeutic intervention to children and their caregivers to address emotional
    behavioural and relational challenges associated with the abuse and neglect
  • children between 6 to 11 years of age who are exhibiting problematic sexual behaviour for
    which clinical assessment or treatment is needed

Medical Stream (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Team – SCAN):

A healthcare team that offers care to children who have been, or are at risk for, physical, sexual, or extreme neglect. The services that may be provided include:

  • consults
  • healthcare team assessment of the child who has been abused
  • phone consults with other healthcare providers (regarding abuse or suspected abuse)
  • referrals to other healthcare providers or agencies (as needed)
  • education to healthcare providers about child abuse
  • community child abuse prevention activities (e.g., resource development and distribution)

Pediatric Psychology:


Psychological assessment for your child and family.

This service provides:

  • assessment: intellectual / cognitive, interpersonal, emotional, and behavioural functioning of child, parents, and family
  • consultation: to other service providers within Child Health and to the community
  • treatment: individual, group, parent, family therapy, behaviour management, play therapy, counselling to help adjust to handicaps and medical conditions

Canadian Centre For Child Protection


The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is a registered charity dedicated to the personal safety of all children. The goal of the Canadian Centre is to reduce child victimization by providing programs and services to the Canadian public. If you have a concern about a child and want to talk to someone, contact the Canadian Centre for Child Protection using the ‘Report A Concern’ button on their website. If you suspect abuse, report it to your local child welfare and/or police. If your concerns are about a child who is in immediate danger or risk, call 911 or your local police.

  • child and youth maltreatment
  • bullying
  • hazing
  • national/provincial child and youth protection laws
  • organization-specific risk management and dispute resolution models
